With a near 20-year history, we operate from eight key locations around the world. We are consistently ranked as a global leader, receiving either a No. 1 or No. 2 ranking from 2001 to 2013 from major international publications.
We continuously invest in the latest technology to drive and support our general and client-specific research. This technology allows us to capture the most accurate intelligence regarding human and organizational capital. Our proprietary system, SAGE (Systematic Access to Global Executives), drives the tracking of nearly 500,000 financial services executives from nearly every country in the world. Information is gathered through a combination of our local, intensive intelligence gathering and our South Africa-based centralized intelligence management unit.
Senior leadership at Global Sage is comprised of nine managing directors who work from key locations around the world. This group leads Global Sage’s core practice areas in three geographical regions. The firm currently employs 30 consultants around the world.
Head of Insurance, Asia
Connie Hui is based in the Hong Kong office of Global Sage. Connie joined Global Sage in 2015 and is specialized in the insurance, consumer banking, asset management and private equity sectors with focus on general management and senior positions in finance, marketing/sales and operations. Prior to joining Global Sage, Connie was a Managing Director at BoLe Associates for 13 years. She started her career in executive search with Russell Reynolds.
Head of Wealth Management & Family Offices
Geoffrey Bevan is based in the Hong Kong office of Global Sage. Geoffrey brings over six years of executive search experience to the firm. Since joining Global Sage, he has worked with some of the industry’s most respected banks and wealth managers. Geoffrey has been recognized as being one of the top talent acquisition professionals covering the private wealth management industry within Asia. Prior to joining Global Sage, Geoffrey worked as a Relationship Manager in the Financial Institutions Group at the Royal Bank of Scotland and Barclays Capital. He is a UK national and a Hong Kong permanent resident.
Global Head of Wealth Management & Family Offices
John Meeks is a Managing Director based in the New York office of Global Sage. John brings over 25 years of industry and executive search experience to the firm. Prior to joining Global Sage, John was a Senior Executive at Goldman Sachs, where he led Private Wealth Management Recruitment for Goldman Sachs for the Americas. Previously, he was the Senior Vice President of Latin America for Randstad Professionals, the world’s second largest executive recruiting firm, where he spearheaded the firm’s executive search practices in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and Mexico. Before the firm’s acquisition by Randstad, John was president of Vedior Professional Services divisions across the U.S., including accounting & finance, legal, and human resources. John is a graduate of the Syracuse University Newhouse School of Public Communications.
Global Chief Information Officer
Kate Sunley is a Managing Director in the Johannesburg office of Global Sage. Kate has more than 18 years of experience as the Global Head of Executive Search Research, and also runs the intelligence management unit and the South African office for the firm. In her role, she is responsible for the firm’s entire information management system, including all technology and competitive intelligence gathering. Since joining Global Sage, Kate has led the creation of the firm’s global proprietary database, which now automates much of the massive data gathering used by the firm to track movements and performance over time. Prior to joining Global Sage, Kate was a founding member of the research team at Executive Access in the Asia Pacific region. Kate is a South African national and has lived and worked in Hong Kong, London and Johannesburg.
Louisa Wong is an Executive Chairman based in the Beijing and Hong Kong offices of Global Sage. Previously, Louisa was an Executive Chairman of BoLe Associates, which she founded in 1996 and built to be China’s and Asia’s largest recruitment firm with over 550 consultants. With over 25 years of executive search experience, Louisa is one of the industry’s most respected professionals. She has led and executed mandates in Asia and globally with a specialization in CEO and Governance assignments. Prior to founding BoLe Associates, Louisa was a long-time Partner at Russell Reynolds and was previously with J.P. Morgan. Louisa has been based in both New York and Asia for the majority of her professional and academic career. Louisa holds a BA from the University of Toronto and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Global Head of Commodities
Paul French is a Managing Director in the Hong Kong office of Global Sage. Paul brings over 17 years of experience to the firm, having specialised in the commodities sector. Since joining Global Sage, he has worked for a discreet portfolio of clients on a global basis in the energy value chain and the resources sectors. Prior to joining Global Sage, Paul worked in intermediary services for energy and resources clients, advising on human capital needs, asset investment opportunities, capital sourcing and strategic resource off-take/supply agreements and financing structures. He has experience across the commodities complex, both physical and financial, with expertise that stretches from oil to gas to coal, from iron ore to uranium to biomass, and brings a truly unique insight into the specialized needs of clients, especially emerging Europe and Asia. He holds a BA in Industrial Economics from the University of Nottingham.
Tom is a Managing Director and Head of the Marketing and Investor Relations Search Practice in our New York Office. He has over 20 years of industry and recruiting experience. He formerly co-headed the Alternative Investments and Marketing practice at Hudson Gate Partners, a boutique search firm in New York. Prior to Hudson Gate, he worked at Options Group in New York, where he focused on placing mid- to senior-level candidates on the buy-side. Before entering search, Tom worked for several large banks and asset management firms. He served as a portfolio manager in the fund of hedge funds business at Merrill Lynch and was responsible for the alternative investment practice in the high-net-worth client division of Neuberger Berman/Lehman Brothers. Tom began his career as an FX options trader at Deutsche Bank and Morgan Stanley. He earned an MBA from New York University Stern School of Business with a concentration in statistics and finance. He also holds a BA from University of Washington with a concentration in finance.
Global Head of Investment Banking and Private Equity
David Webbe is Managing Director, Global Head of Investment Banking and Private Equity at Global Sage. He leads the global practice and also has responsibility for the South East Asia region. David is a highly experienced professional with a keen understanding of the banking industry as well as executives' strengths and capabilities. He has also extensive experience of private equity deal decision making and the skills required from professionals to secure the best returns for investors. He joined Global Sage after over 5 years at Korn Ferry, where he was Senior Client Partner and head of Global Financial Services for South East Asia. Prior to Korn Ferry he served as Managing Director of Webbe International, a boutique financial services search firm in Singapore, where he played a key role in the development of the business on moving to Asia in 2002. He has been consistently ranked as a leading professional in the field, achieving No 2 ranking in 2006, in the AsiaMoney Headhunters Poll for the investment banking category. David holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree from the University of Kent , Canterbury.
Global Head of Investment Management - Asset Management
Doug Brown is a Managing Director based in the New York office of Global Sage. Doug brings over 12 years of experience in working with senior investment professionals in the asset management industry. Prior to joining Global Sage, Doug was Managing Director and Co-Head of the Investment Search Practice at Broadreach Group. For six years, he served as the Director of Institutional Investor’s Fixed Income Forum, an institute for chief investment officers and heads of fixed income departments at 50 of the top U.S. bond managers. He went on to become a Senior Vice President at Cantor Fitzgerald Debt Capital Markets and Research Manager at Nine Peaks Capital, a $500m fund of funds. In the early part of his career, Doug was an award-winning financial journalist for Reuters and Institutional Investor. He covered the Federal Reserve in Washington, D.C. as well as the mortgage and corporate bond markets in New York. Doug holds a BA in Government from Franklin and Marshall College and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
Head of Japan
Hiro Tamura is a Managing Director in the Tokyo office of Global Sage. Hiro brings over 15 years of financial services recruitment experience to the firm. Since joining Global Sage, he has had close to a 100% success rate, having recruited some of the highest level professionals in Japan. Hiro has been instrumental to the success of our Japanese operation, where he has successfully completed a number of key strategic placements in both buy-side and sell-side, across a variety of financial products. Hiro attended Toyama College of Foreign Languages.
Head of CFO, Risk & Compliance, Asia
Joyce Ng is based in the Hong Kong office of Global Sage. Joyce brings over 16 years of experience to the firm. Joyce joined Global Sage in 2015 and is focused on CFO, Legal, Risk and Compliance assignments. Over the past decade, she has been a prominent executive recruiter for the Finance and Legal function, with a particular focus on the Private Equity, Financial Services, and HK Conglomerates. Prior to joining Global Sage, Joyce was a Director of the Talent Acquisition team at UBS. Previously, she spent more than 15 years at Bole Associates. Joyce holds a BA from University of Toronto and speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
President Emeritus & Senior Advisor
May Koon is President Emeritus and Senior Advisor to Global Sage. During her time with Global Sage, she was consistently ranked Asia’s No. 1 executive search consultant in asset management, equities and investment banking for more than a decade. Previously, May was the Co-Head of Asian Equities at Credit Suisse First Boston and Morgan Stanley and played a key part in bringing each firm into the top tier of its league. Prior to that, she was with Lehman Brothers, starting the US Institutional Sales and the Asian Equities desks for the firm. She began her career in the US equities and commodities markets working for and later managing PaineWebber in Asia. May holds a B.A. from the University of Hong Kong.
Global Head of Asset Management
Silvie Buchs is a Managing Director based in the London and Zurich offices of Global Sage. Silvie brings over 16 years of executive search experience to the firm and specializes in Asset Management and Private Wealth Management. Since joining Global Sage in 2007, she has been instrumental in building out the European asset management practice. Silvie has completed numerous assignments for traditional and alternative asset managers and private wealth managers in Europe and globally with her search practice spanning investment management, distribution and relationship management across developed and emerging markets. Prior to joining Global Sage, Silvie established and managed her own executive search firm, focusing on EMEA Financial Services, for five years. She began her professional career with Korn/Ferry International, where she managed senior financial services assignments. Silvie holds an MBA from Cass Business School, London and a BA in Business Administration from the Anglo-American University, Prague. She speaks English, German and Czech.
Head of Korea
Sean Lee is based in the Seoul of Global Sage. Sean brings over 16 years of experience to Global Sage. Since joining the firm, he has placed more than 500 finance professionals in Korea across the spectrum of asset classes and product services in capital markets, investment and corporate banking, asset management, sales and trading, private banking and private equity. Prior to joining Global Sage, Sean began his career in SK Securities, where he held roles in equity capital markets, trading, sales and M&A in both Seoul and London. Apart from his native Korean, he speaks English and Japanese. Sean holds a BA from Yonsei University in Seoul and an MBA from George Washington University.
Sera Li is Managing Director at Global Sage, Hong Kong. She provides Executive Search, Market Intelligence and Strategic Consulting services to the firm's global and regional clients within the financial services industry, including Investment Banks, Asset Management and other Alternative Investment firms (hedge funds, private equity and proprietary trading firms). Having lived in both New York and Hong Kong for the past 11 years, Sera has gained extensive experience in completing cross border buildout mandates with US and European clients establishing a presence in Asia, particularly in Greater China, as well as Asian clients expanding into global markets. Prior to relocating to Hong Kong, in summer 2008, Sera worked at Options Group’s global headquarters in New York, and is well known among the Chinese-speaking community on Wall Street, and is a frequent guest speaker at career development events at Harvard, MIT, Yale, Columbia, Fordham and Tsinghua University. Additionally, she has experience in business development for social media start-up ventures in the US and China. She worked closely with the Organizing Committee to promote the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games in North America. Ms Li holds a Masters degree in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard Graduate School of Education and a Bachelor of Arts from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. She is native Mandarin speaker and fluent in English, as well as some Cantonese and German.
